Somali Earth Volunteers proudly participated in Puntland Tree Planting Week, an initiative led by the Ministry of Environment, Range, and Climate of Puntland, Somalia. Running from April 17 to 22, 2024, the campaign aimed to plant trees, raise public awareness against deforestation, and promote a greener Puntland in response to the worsening climate crisis.
Deforestation has had devastating consequences in Puntland, including desertification, loss of biodiversity, and increased vulnerability to climate shocks. Through tree planting efforts and advocacy, Somali Earth Volunteers joined hands with local communities, government agencies, and environmental activists to take action for a more sustainable and resilient future.
As the climate crisis continues to threaten livelihoods and ecosystems, collective action is crucial. By planting trees and advocating for environmental conservation, we can work towards a greener, healthier Puntland.
